New Government legislation states that all gas boilers fitted in new homes must be condensing boilers with either an 'A' or 'B' SEDBUK efficiency rating (A= greater than 90%, B= 86%-90%). For existing installations, condensing boiler must be fitted on replacement unless the exemption criteria are satisfied.

What is "SEDBUK"?
SEDBUK stands for Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers in the UK and is a Government sponsored database for domestic gas and oil boilers. It is now the industry standard method for calculating the efficiency of central heating boilers, developed and agreed with boiler manufacturers, enabling the public to compare the economy of various makes and models of boiler.
